Bridging Finance Solutions continues to support Wirral youth zone, The Hive, funding their vital Mentoring Programme which works with some of the most vulnerable and at-risk children across Wirral.
Bridging Finance Solutions has once again pledged to donate a year’s salary for a Mentor role who oversees and manages up to 45 mentees. This marks the third year running that BFS has supported the Wirral based charity in this way.
Steve Barber, Managing Director of BFS explained: “The Hive is an amazing charity that provides diverse support for so many young people and children across Wirral. As a business, we’ve formed a strong partnership with them and are keen to support them in different ways, including this funding programme, which will ensure the Mentor role can continue to exist within the organisation.
“As a Wirral based business whose entire works force live and work within the borough, it’s so important that we support local charities that make such a positive impact on our area.”
The Mentoring Project is a critical part of the support the Hive provide. Mentors offer support to young people aged between 8 and 19 years old (up to 25 with additional needs and disabilities) who face a range of issues and challenging circumstances including; family breakdown, exclusion from mainstream education or engagement in antisocial or criminal activity.
The co-ordination and management of the team of volunteer mentors is incredibly labour intensive and challenging. Volunteer mentors undergo a rigorous screening and training programme before they are carefully matched with their mentee. They are then given a high level of support and guidance overseeing the mentor and young person relationship, offering additional guidance on issues that may need further external support.
Catherine Sandow Director of Fundraising of the Hive said: “Without the Mentor Co-ordinator, we wouldn’t essentially be able to offer a mentor service which would have a huge impact on the increasing numbers of young people needing our help.
“We are absolutely delighted by BFS’ decision to once again fund our Mentoring Project for a full year, we can’t thank them enough for their incredible support. Thanks to Bridging Finance Solutions we are now able to continue to deliver essential work with the many young people who’ve come to rely on us.”
The team at BFS will also be hands on at the Hive this Christmas helping out with gift wrapping and food hamper preparation and delivery.
