BFS Support Community Lifeline Through Food Collection

The team at Bridging Finance Solutions has spent the past month collecting and building a food parcel, as part of the firm’s commitment to the local foodbank.

BFS’s Sue Caldwell (pictured) initiated the collection and alongside Jeanette Gwatkin and Rachel Davies (pictured) visited the Wirral foodbank to present the weighty parcel made up of food essentials that will ultimately help ensure local people in need and distress won’t go hungry this festive season.

Jeanette explained: “As a business, we really wanted to do something that would have a meaningful impact locally and we couldn’t think of a better charity to support than the local foodbank.

“Recognising that there are so many people that live within our communities who struggle to meet the most basic of needs is incredibly sad and distressing.

“We all agreed to spend the weeks leading up to Christmas collating a parcel made up of a few additional items from our weekly shop.”

The foodbank is a national charity with hundreds of regional branches that work to tackle food poverty and hunger in local communities. Based on the ethos that ‘no one in our community should have to face going hungry’, Trussel Trust foodbanks provide three days worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to the charity in crisis.

Jeanette added: “It was great to visit Wirral Foodbank and find out more about the fantastic work carried out by the volunteers. We’re pleased to be able to play a small role through our donation this year and looking forward to continuing to support them moving forward.”
